La Toya participates on Big Brother.

Big brother: La Toya became the second Jackson to enter Big Brother, the first being her brother Jermaine in 2007. On Day 20, she was the fourth person to be evicted from the house in a double eviction, along with Tommy Sheridan.

La Toya Jackson may have missed out on a place in the Big Brother final, but she received a big welcome from the crowd.

She said being in the house had been one of the best experiences of her life.

‘For me to get out of that shell to speak to people. I did it,’ she said. ‘I just hate being so shy and I hoped this would help me break out – and it did.’

But La Toya admitted she was disappointed not to win.

‘Everybody wanted to win, I did too, yes of course. I’ve been in the house a long time.’

La Toya also talked about how the show had helped her self-confidence.

‘It’s taught me to be a bit more open with strangers,’ she said. ‘It teaches you to be more outgoing and have more of a conversation and that’s what I did.’

She admitted it was a challenge listening to Tommy’s anti-American speeches, but chose to ignore them.

She said: ‘For me, Tommy is nice individual and I have to respect his beliefs however I don’t feel good about people putting America down. When Tommy made those comments, I ignored them.’
